Volunteer of the Month: Stephanie Bergan

This month, we are thrilled to recognize our newest firefighter, Stephanie Bergan, as Volunteer of the Month!

Stephanie’s dedication knows no bounds. Since joining us in November 2023, she has taken on the monumental task of managing the North Wales PetSmart Adoption Center—keeping it full, organized, and welcoming to adopters. She ensures the kitties receive the best care, stays in communication with fosters, and processes adoptions when matches happen.

But Stephanie’s impact goes far beyond daily responsibilities. One Monday morning, before 7:00 AM, she followed a gut feeling to check on Baby Mama, a resident cat at PetSmart. Upon arriving, she discovered smoke and chaos—a fire had broken out, but no alarms had sounded. PetSmart employees called the fire department and Stephanie instantly jumped into emergency mode.

Without hesitation, she rescued every single cat, getting them safely into carriers and out the front door while calling for help. A Banfield employee joined in, and together they made sure all the cats were safe. Not stopping there, Stephanie loaded the cats into her car—determined to keep them warm—and personally transported them to WWS, where Lois was waiting to help settle them in.

One standout moment? Mr. Bean, one of the cats, refused to get into his carrier. As the Banfield employee urged her to leave, Stephanie firmly responded, "I'm not leaving until I get him!" And, of course, she did.

Stephanie, your quick thinking, unwavering commitment, and countless contributions to this organization have not gone unnoticed. The board is beyond grateful for everything you do, and we believe you deserve a month all your own!

Thank you for being an extraordinary hero to our cats and community! ❤️🐾😻
