Volunteer of the Month: Ed Lafferty
Please join us in celebrating this month's Volunteer of the Month, Ed Lafferty.
Where do we begin with Ed, he is the man that does EVERYTHING for Stray Cat Blues. I don't think there is a time that Ed has said no to any request, except of course night driving.
Ed’s love and dedication extend far beyond helping other people. Every lost or feral cat he hears about or encounters receives the same level of care and compassion he would give his own pet. He puts his heart and soul into helping everyone in the rescue. It's not just about saving lives for Ed; it's about giving these precious cats a chance at a better future.
Ed's unwavering determination is the stuff of legend, transcending mere mortal limitations. The last rescue he agreed to do was to help trap two cats in a trailer that we soon realized should be condemned and burnt to the ground. When we entered the trailer, we quickly saw we were in trouble. Telling you there were 2-foot-long spider webs coming down from the ceiling is not an exaggeration;we have pictures to document the visit. We left the traps and when we returned Ed had hazmat suits for us to wear going inside the house again.
His compassion extends far beyond fostering and trapping. Ed does so many tasks such as taking microchips to Green Lane, snap tests to Colmar or driving cats to be TNR'd to wherever they are supposed to be, the tasks never stop and neither does Ed. He is the handyman at WWS, without the title and is constantly thinking about ways to Improve WWS. In addition to all of this he is a member of the Rescue Software Team. He is always there to answer calls for assistance to support his fellow volunteers with unwavering positivity. Without Ed, Stray Cat Blues would not be what it is today, providing resources and support to all who seek help.
Ed's actions also embody the spirit and mission of Stray Cat Blues, and his contributions are a significant factor in the success and resilience of our organization. His ability to juggle multiple roles while providing exceptional care and support is nothing short of miraculous.
Please join us in celebrating Ed Lafferty as our Volunteer of the Month. We are immensely grateful for his unwavering passion, empathy, and relentless dedication to everyone's needs at Stray Cat Blues. Ed, thank you for everything you do—you are a true hero in the hearts of many, and especially in the eyes of the kitties you’ve saved!
