Gertrude the Survivor: From Abandoned to Adored!
Gertrude is a sweet senior who waited for weeks by the door of a home that abandoned her. She was found roaming the neighborhood around Grandview Hospital over the summer. Ms. Gertrude was begging for food from various homes and seeking shelter from the hot sun under parked cars. All she wanted was a meal and a safe place to stay.
A concerned neighbor notified Stray Cat Blues of Gertrude’s plight. Starving and skinny, Gertie jumped right into the arms of one of our rescue volunteers. She was taken immediately to the vet to be checked out. To our surprise Ms. Gertrude had a microchip to the BCSPCA, but no owner could be located. It was revealed that she was approximately 10-12 years old, had a heart murmur, was severely malnourished and was underweight.
We’re proud to say that 100% of every donation goes directly to caring for cats in need, from those just beginning their journeys to those facing long roads to recovery. With your help, we can continue to rescue, treat, and give second chances to cats like Kevin, Bear, and their siblings. This year, please consider donating to help us save more lives, provide more second chances, and ensure no kitten has to face the cold alone.
