Rescue work isn’t all cuddling kittens (though there’s plenty of that!). Far too much of it involves seeing cats on their worst day, where humans have let them down through neglect, indifference, or even cruelty. Our trappers work all hours of the day to respond to calls for help to TNR cats (trap, neuter, and return), as well as vaccinating and frequently getting additional medical treatment for injured cats. On April 18th, only 5 minutes before closing, we got a call from ACCT Philly asking us if we were able to pull some kittens. As always, we came together as a team and were able to pull another 10 kittens. Kittens in shelters are at very high risk of euthanasia, due to the constant care they require, that unfortunately most shelters do not have the resources for. […]
