The story of Gabe, a 3 year old male panther who was adopted then soon returned back to his foster home because he was hiding in the adopter’s basement and wasn’t using his litter box. Stray Cat Blues immediately had Gabe checked by a vet and there were no medical issues found. Gabe was then brought to Whiskers Way Station, a rehabilitation sanctuary where he was placed in a quiet cage to allow him time to decompress, become used to the litter box, and have some TLC by our socializers.
A short time after, it was decided that Gabe needed a little help from some friends and he was moved to a room where he could roam free with a couple of youngsters. What a change we saw in this sweet, misunderstood boy!
Pictures of Gabe
He picked his spot at the top of the cat tree, and all of the other cats gravitated towards him. He loved the role of “Uncle Gabe” and got along with all of his roommates. Gabe warmed up to the soft voices while being petted and also made friends with a giant toothbrush that he just loved. Gabe was FINALLY happy!
Gabe now has two loving parents and a panther big brother named Clyde and yes, his big giant toothbrush! His adopters stay in touch and give us positive reports. When I shared an update with his foster, here’s what she had to say;
“Thank you for sharing this wonderful update. Without your intervention, I don't know where Gabe would be. He would probably be out in a barn somewhere were it not for you and everyone at Whiskers Way Station. Thank you all so much! "
