Cheesecake got a second chance... help give more second chances!! π
Stray Cat Blues gets calls all the time asking for TNR (trap/neuter/return) help with colonies of stray/feral cats. To the best of our ability, we do what we can to help control these populations. When there are youngsters in the group that have a possibility of socialization, we attempt to find fosters to turn them into adoptable house cats. And then there are dangerous situations where an SOS is put out for urgent help. Cheesecake (CC) falls into this category.
A kind colony feeder contacted Stray Cat Blues in January 2023 about kittens being attacked by something in her area of New Hope. Several kittens had already been killed and a few looked injured. We went out to assess the situation and found two kittens in immediate need of our help. They too had been attacked and were in need of treatment. One of the kittens had her wounds treated, made a full recovery and was adopted. The other one, CC was injured and also sick. She was diagnosed with pneumonia and had a nasty leg wound. Efforts to save her leg failed. She had to have her left hind leg amputated.
After months in foster care, she is all healed and adjusting beautifully to the challenges of being a tripod kitty. Since Cheesecake was already about 3 months old when trapped, she also needed some help with her socialization to humans. She is now a resident of our Whiskers Way Station, learning how nice people can be. CC is loving all the pets and attention she is getting from our volunteer cuddlers. Weβre amazed at her resiliency, skill in climbing cat trees and wrestling with her roommates!
This sweet little girl now has a very bright future being spoiled and loved, instead of a dangerous life, fending for herself with a very uncertain fate.
