Rags To Riches
Sweet Pea, Scarlett, Sabrina, and Saffron were rescued from the parking lot behind North Wales Pub in North Wales. There were five kittens and one had already been hit by a car by the time Stray Cat Blues was able to head out to assess the situation. These 10 week old kitties were living with their mom under an abandoned car behind a shed. They were being fed by a nice gentleman that worked nearby but otherwise had no physical contact with people.
Three kittens were easily trapped in one day but one kitten and the mom were not trapped until the following week. The mommy cat was able to be TNR’d and she is living out her days in freedom and the last kitten joined the others. These four baby girls were so scared and at first they would not even eat in front of a human. It soon became apparent that one was sick. She was not eating, shut down and dehydrated. She was taken to the vet and the symptoms were treated but if no improvement the recommended course of action was euthanasia.
More experienced fosters came to the rescue determined to help our sweet Saffron with every hour feeding through the night. They were determined to save this one pound kitten. The hardest call is to bring yourself to the realization that you did all you could and it’s time to say goodbye and unfortunately that was the case with Saffron who continued to decline. On the day it was time to say goodbye to Saffron, she began to suddenly perk up. The medications started to work and our little fighter was determined to pull through!
Saffron is now with her new foster mom and will be prepared for her forever family soon. Meanwhile, her three sweet calico sisters have been adopted and now in their fur-ever homes. Saffron isn’t quite ready for adoption just yet, but she is on her way to a happy and healthy life! A true rags to riches dream ending for all!
It’s taken an entire Stray Cat Blues village for this little family of kittens to be rescued. A big thank you to all involved as well as the countless texts, emails and phone calls from so many others!
