🐈⬛ Learn how Dunkin went from Dumpster Diver to Dapper Cat!
This is a season of gratitude with the shared goal of helping animals in need, a challenge faced by rescue organizations all over the world.
Have you ever heard people say “Cats are fine on their own outdoors; they can fend for themselves”? Imagine being hungry, hurt, desperate, calling out for help—but no one stops. Some cats (if they are lucky) find ways to survive outside, but most end up with a very short, painful life. Disease, hunger, cruelty and traffic are but some of the risks they face every day. They need someone to care about what happens to them. These poor suffering creatures need a voice. If he could talk, we think this is what Dunkin would have to say:
“Hello, I'm Dunkin. I've been through a lot. Each day has been a battle for me; going up to cars at a Dunkin’ Donuts begging for food, trying to get someone to help me, scavenging for scraps around and in the dumpsters, I’ve lost most of my hair and my skin feels like it’s on fire. I am miserable. This is no way to live!
One day someone took my picture and put it on social media. That was the beginning of my rescue story. Several commented that they saw me in the parking lot often in the evening. Stray Cat Blues trappers sprang into action. After a few tries, they found me and took me to get help. The nice lady veterinarian was very kind to me. She gave me medicine to help me feel better. My new foster mom gave me a soft bed to sleep in and a yummy meal to fill my empty belly.
My past wasn't easy, it was all about survival. But I didn't let it harden my heart. I still believe in love, in companionship. I hope to soon find a home where I can be loved for who I am. Now that I have finally had someone care for me, just look at what a handsome panther I’ve become! I'm Dunkin, and I promise to be the best friend you'll ever have.”
Dunkin is still looking for his forever home with someone who will open their heart to him, but his story is already a happy one because he got the help he needed.
