😸 From Feral to Family: Mama Cat's Journey 🌟

There are some calls that you can never forget, no matter how much you wish you could. This was one of those. On April 8, 2024, a woman from Quakertown called our help line in absolute hysterics. She had just witnessed her landlord dump three 1-day-old kittens in the woods behind his property. A stray cat had given birth on his porch the day before, and he'd decided to "get rid of them." The caller was able to scoop them up and put them in a box...but then she didn't know what to do. Mama was feral, and even if she could get her, then what?
That's where Stray Cat Blues came in.
One of our volunteer trappers talked her through setting a trap. The kittens were placed in a carrier behind the trap to try and lure mama in. After a couple tense hours--the babies were in desperate need of mama's milk by that point--mama went in! The volunteer raced over to get mama cat and the babies and then drove them an hour away to one of our fosters who specializes in caring for feral mamas and their babies.
The babies grew into plump, loving little kittens, all adopted out to forever homes. And mama? The kind woman who contacted us decided to take mama in after she was spayed and the babies were weaned. She was willing to give her all the time she needed to warm up to a life indoors. We set her up with a crate and plenty of socializing advice. Mama is now enjoying her first Christmas as a spoiled house cat!
Without the intervention of Stray Cat Blues,this family would not have a happy ending. A caring witness was all it took so they could find safe warm homes off the streets.
