From Engine Troubles to Feline Friendships 🚗🐾
It's Donor Match December 2024, and we are fortunate to have anonymous donors pledging to match all donations to Stray Cat Blues Inc., dollar for dollar, up to $40,000 from now until December 31, 2024.
Last spring an urgent call came in .... “There’s a kitten stuck in my car engine!” An SOS went out to our trappers. Was anyone available to do a rescue in the Barto area? Even though it was 10 o'clock on a Saturday night, two of our volunteers dropped what they were doing and rushed out to see what they could do to help this little one.
They arrived at the home and assessed the situation. High pitched cries were coming from the engine compartment, but they couldn’t locate her. After jacking up the car and removing some cowling, one of the trappers slid under the front of the car and the other held a flashlight into the engine. Just when they got close to grabbing her, she would scoot away to another crevice. She was terrified and had no idea we were there to help her. Finally, about an hour later - SUCCESS!
Amazingly, she didn’t have a scratch on her. Other than being scared, she was perfectly fine. She was a tiny tortie girl, maybe 4-5 weeks old with a white tip on her tail. Adorable! We would call her Tippy. A foster home had been lined up while all of this excitement was going on, so sometime after midnight Tippy was delivered to her new temporary home.
She was so little and lonely, we had to find her a friend. One of our other fosters had 11 kittens about her age and was happy to give one up so Tippy could have a buddy. Tippy and Eddie became fast friends and playmates. They grew big and strong and were ready for adoption in August. Both are now very happy in their forever homes. While we are proud to be the voice for these helpless creatures, in this case it was Tippy’s own voice that saved her!
Thanks to your support, Stray Cat Blues could respond to her voice, providing her the chance for a brighter future off the streets and out of engines. Tippy’s story, like so many others, is made possible because of you!
